  74.         Boxbel wurde optimiert, das Format des .CFG-Files wurde geändert,
  75.         die benötigten Parameter wurden auf zwei reduziert. Tommy Roeder
  76.         schaltete sich ein und half, das Programm zu optimieren.

  78.         BOXBEL was completely re-written. The sorting-routine was thrown
  79.         out because there was a faster and easier way found to sort the
  80.         log-entries by date and time. The result is that BOXBEL V2.0 now
  81.         is really fast! BOXBEL now knows whether you are using FrontDoor
  82.         or D'Bridge and so the corresponding commandline-switches were
  83.         thrown out too. Tommy Roeder appeared on the scene and helped to
  84.         improve performance and efficiency.

  96.         Zeilenzähler eingebaut. Viele Spezialfälle in system.log nun
  97.         berücksichtigt. Quiet-Modus eingebaut. Im Logfile von FrontDoor
  98.         kann es manchmal passieren, daß ein Ctrl-Z (Dateiende-Kennzeichen)
  99.         mittendrin auftaucht. Dies verursachte große Probleme, weil die
  100.         sehr schnellen Leseroutinen von BOXBEL nicht mehr funktionierten.
  101.         Wenn das Programm ein abnormales Dateiende findet, springt es in
  102.         einen automatischen Konvertiermodus, der alle Ctrl-Z im Mailer-
  103.         Logfile löscht. Anschließend wartet das Programm
  104.         maximal 30 Sekunden auf einen Tastendruck und macht ansonsten
  105.         von selbst weiter.

  107.         Line-counter integrated. Many special cases when processing system.log
  108.         are now recognized. Included quiet-mode to disable the line-counters.
  109.         Sometimes it happens that there is a Ctrl-Z in the frontdoor-logfile.
  110.         This causes big problems because the fast reading-routines of BOXBEL
  111.         didn't work any longer. The program is now able to recognize a Ctrl-Z
  112.         and then switches to an automatic converting-mode in which this
  113.         character is deleted. After doing this the program waits
  114.         for the sysop to press [enter] for maximum 30 seconds. After this
  115.         time the program restarts reading the logfiles.

  118. Version 2.3
  119.         Als am 1.5.89 die endgültige Version 1.99 von FrontDoor herauskam,
  120.     mußten wir mit Schrecken feststellen, daß Joaquim Homrighausen das
  121.     Format im Logfile geändert hatte. Die Routine zum Verarbeiten des
  122.     Mailer-Logfiles mußte daraufhin neu angepaßt werden.

  124.     When the final test-release 1.99 of FrontDoor was published on 1st of
  125.     May, we discovered that Joaquim Homrighausen changed the format of
  126.     the logfile. Outgoing calls are now very difficult to process and the
  127.     responsible code had to be completely rewritten.

  131.         BOXBEL unterstützt nun auch das Logfile von Lynx-Systemen. Außerdem
  132.         wurde die /R-Option eingebaut (siehe DOK). Die maximale Anzahl an
  133.         Einträgen wurde auf 2000 erhöht. Verschiedene Spezialfälle in
  134.         den Logfiles wurden berücksichtigt.

  136.         BOXBEL now supports logfiles of Lynx-Systems. A new option "/R" was
  137.         implemented (look at the DOC). The maximum number of entries was
  138.         increased to 2000. Several special-cases have been considered. When
  139.         you are running BOXBEL in "english-mode" then the default date-format
  140.         (dd.mm.yyyy) is converted to mm-dd-yyyy.

  143.         - Boxbel erkennt, wenn eines der Logfiles fehlt (wenn es z.B. beim
  144.           taeglichen Clean-Up geloescht wird.
  145.         - Manchmal wurde Highlight-Text nicht auf Normal zurueckgeschaltet.
  146.           Dieser Fehler ist behoben.
  147.         - Boxbel unterstuetzt nun 5000 (bisher 2000) User bzw. Nodes und
  148.           benoetigt deshalb mehr Speicherplatz.
  149.         - Das Format der ANS- bzw. ASC-Dateien wurde veraendert.
  150.         - Wenn Dein System herausruft, wird das von Boxbel erkannt. "System"
  151.           wird hierbei ersetzt durch "Calling"
  152.         - GFile und aehnliche Programme beschreiben ebenfalls SYSTEM.LOG.
  153.           Boxbel bekam dadurch manchmal Probleme. Das ist beseitigt. 
  154.         - Wenn ein User nach dem ersten Anruf auflegt, wurde er bisher nicht
  155.           erkannt. Dieser Fehler ist behoben.
  156.         - Kleinere Bugfixes und Schoenheitskorrekturen
  157.         - Wer Ideen hat, schreibe diese bitte an Werner Niedermeier (24/6)
  158.           oder Tommy Roeder (2:246/3). Die meisten Verbesserungen gehen auf
  159.           Anregungen von Benutzern zurueck.

  162.         - Boxbel now no longer complains if one of your logfiles is missing
  163.           because you deleted it during system-cleanup-phase.
  164.         - Fixed bug in ANSI-file, highlighting wasn't turned off correctly.
  165.         - Increased the maximum total number of user/nodes from 2000 to 5000
  166.           so Boxbel needs more memory to run now.
  167.         - Changed the outfit of the boxbel.asc/.ans-files.
  168.         - Boxbel recognizes if you have your logfiles deleted daily and so
  169.           the date of all entries are equal. The date will be thrown out
  170.           of the listing then.
  171.         - Boxbel checks if a mailer-connection was caused by a dial-out by
  172.           your system. If so the word "System:" is replaced by "Called:" in
  173.           the final report. So you can see which systems were called by you.
  174.         - Fixed bug in counting routine if one of the logfiles is empty
  175.           (this caused e.g. the message "The last 3 Connections..." but the
  176.           list only showed two of them).
  177.         - Analyzing of QuickBBS-log is now more reliable.
  178.           If you have utilities which write to the system.log then this
  179.           won't cause problems any longer.
  180.         - If a user logged into QuickBBS, typed his name and then hung up
  181.           he wasn't shown in the output-file. fixed.
  182.         - While running, Boxbel shows the date and time of the actual
  183.           read logfile-entries. Also the total number of users and nodes
  184.           is displayed and written to the output-files (have a look at it,
  185.           you'll like it!)
  186.         - Placed a CHR-12 (CLS) also at the beginning of the ANS-Files.
  187.         - If you have any comments, e.g. about what you would like to see in
  188.           the output-files, so write a netmail to me (Tommy Roeder 2:246/3).
  189.           Most improvements of this version were influenced by boxbel-users.
  190.         - Boxbel was tested also with the new QuickBBS 2.61

  192. Version 3.0, major upgrade
  193. - Lynx-logfiles are no longer supported.
  194. - FrontDoor 1.99c is now fully supported. I suggest to switch on all
  195.   options in setup/mailer/log except "accounting info", "trivial msgs"
  196.   and of course "debug". This will keep your logfiles short.
  197. - D'Bridge 1.30 is NOT supported. Instead I included code for the new
  198.   D'Bridge 1.31 which is announced for beginning of september 1990.
  199.   Please set dbridge-logfiles to "verbose" mode.
  200. - BoxBel 3.0 works very well with QuickBBS 2.64
  201. - In the report-files you now not only see which systems called in and
  202.   were called by you but also how long the connection took.
  203. - Same goes for online-users.
  204. - Baudrate of users is included in the reports.
  205. - New command-line-parameter "/NOCTL" will leave out all QBBS-style
  206.   ANSI-control-codes. So the generated boxbel.asc/ans can e.g. be
  207.   imported by programs like "Ghostwriter" or similar.
  208. - If you are using TosScan v1.0 together with FrontDoor, then set your
  209.   tosscan.log to fd.log (you may have done so already).
  210.   BoxBel v3.0 will then inform you about all echomail-sessions which lasted
  211.   longer than 5 minutes.
  212. - If you are using D'Bridge (1.31) then you have to change nothing. BoxBel
  213.   will include all echomail-acitivies that lasted longer than 5 minutes
  214.   into ist report-files.
  215. - You may break BoxBel at any time by pressing [Esc]. It will stop at once
  216.   and won't write anything to disk.
